I have reached a new low - 8 weeks 5 days

I just went and took a nap in my car in the middle of the day!

I am just so tired lately. I can't get through a day without a nap. Most days I have been leaving at 3:00 and going home to nap, and then getting back online around 5:00. But today I have a 4:00 meeting so I couldn't sneak out at 3:00. And I just had to go close my eyes for a while. Man! These beans are sucking every ounce of my energy!

I bought a couple of books on twin pregnancy. YIKES! This is going to be a lot of work. Mostly I'm overwhelmed by the dietary recommendations. These books say that you should gain weight early - in the first trimester. I can't imagine gaining weight right now - I can hardly eat anything. I don't know how people do it. And they say that you should be getting tons of protein - one recommends 170 grams of protein a day! That's like eating 6 steaks a day! Or 17 cartons of yogurt! I'm not even coming close. I'm trying to get more protein - but I'm still on my mostly yogurt diet. It's just the only thing I can reliably eat that doesn't make me feel crummy after.

In the TMI category - here's how my night and morning went: I slept great until about 3:30. Then I was wide awake. At about 4:00 I ate a piece of cheese and peed. Then at 5:00, still awake, I decided I was really hungry. So I had a yogurt. I think I drifted off to sleep around 6:00. and then around 7:00 I woke up miserable - stomach and intestines churning, heart pounding, head throbbing, short of breath, hot. I wasn't sure what was going on. I finally sat up after a while. I actually took my temperature - 'cause I really felt sick. It was normal. And then I thought maybe I had to poop. So I went and did that. And then I felt all better.

huh?

How is it possible that having to poop could make my entire body feel miserable? Is my poop that toxic? This pregnancy business is wierd. I really am no longer in touch with what's going on in my body - it all feels so foreign. I'm not complaining. It's just wierd!

Oh - and the OBs office called last night - apparently my urine sample came back and I have a bladder infection. Funny - I had just been reading in one of my pregnancy books that it's very common for pregnant women to have asymptomatic UTIs. So I guess I have one. They are calling in an antibiotic that I have to go pick up today. And I still have that cyst. I will have the OB look at it at my appointment next week.

So my body is in interesting shape - cyst, bladder infection, crazy stomach & bowels. I guess this is what I asked for. But I had no idea it would feel like this. I still wouldn't say that I 'feel pregnant'. I just feel messed up. But I'm not complaining. Just entertaining you with all my wierdness.

My next appointment is a week from tomorrow. I am excited to see my little beans again!

I didn't really start gaining weight until I was in my 2nd trimester, so try not to worry about that too much. I worried about it in the beginning since I wasn't gaining to much, but now I've gained about 22 pounds and I'm in my 21st week.I gained quite a bit in the last few weeks.

I'm tired all the time too. I can't fall asleep again after getting up for the second pee of the night.

Yeah, the pooping makes me feel a lot better at the moment too. It's so rare now that when I "achieve" one it is quite the relief...

Hope your UTI gets cleared up easily.

I am not as tire as I was before but I can understand that. It hits you like a brick wall and it is like you powerless over the immediate need for a nap. You can only do what you can do as far as getting enough calories and protein. It is another thing that you just don't seem to have power over. It will get better though. The thought of consuming 6 steaks a day makes me want to vomit and I like red meat!

Your waking up and feeling so awful might have been symptom of the UTI. Or it was coincidental. That is why they make us pee everytime. UTI's can cause preterm labor when we get them down the road. Sadly, I admit that pooping can now be quit a celebration at my house when it was never an issue before!

Normal conversation has a whole new meaning now doesn't it? :)

Ooooh, close those books! I'm just kidding--they do contain a lot of good info. I lost a lot of weight in the first trimester and the twins still turned out fine. I think if you're doctor is telling you all is fine that all is truly fine regardless of what the books say. I could never get that level of protein.

I remember Leggy saying that her doctor told her that all the eating for three books tell you about gaining in the first semester etc. actually weren't supported by the evidence. You just need to eat what you can, eat healthily (can you cope with an apple or two to help with bowel issues?) and that's the best you can do.
