the 4th of july - 25 weeks 6 days

We had a lovely 4th of July - mostly mellow day chillin' around the house.

The day before - the 3rd - J had basically ordered me off my feet. I've been working my butt off around the house - in this manic state of trying to get everything done. And I think J was really starting to get worried that I am over doing it. I have been getting pretty tired. I think at 28 weeks the doc is going to tell me to stop doing stuff - so I feel a strong need to get all my house projects done before then. I'm 26 weeks today - so that gives me only two weeks left, and I'm going to San Diego next weekend, so really I only have 1 weekend left.

But I've made a lot of progress - as you can see from the previous post - the babies' room is really coming together. I just need to get a bookshelf of some kind.

The 3rd was also our first multiples class at the hospital. It was pretty good. There were 9 couples. Two of them with triplets, and the rest twins. We are actually the furthese along of the bunch - there were a couple others with due dates later in October. And then the rest spread out over November, December and into January. I thought it was a little early for some of them, but since this is the first time the hospital has offered this class, I guess they wanted to jump on it.

The first class covered mostly stuff we already knew - nutrtion, weight gain, pregnancy complaints, etc. Next time we get to learn more about the babies development, and get a tour of the NICU and antepartum unit.

The one new thing I did learn was that my movement and the babies movement can cause the braxton-hicks contractions. Which I had been wondering about. Because I do notice if I bend over or roll over too quickly, my belly definitely tightens up. And I also have noticed that they seem to happen more when the babies are more active. So it was good to have confirmation that this movement was actually causing these contractions, and it wasn't just my imagination.

So back to the 4th... It was a nice mellow day. I have managed two whole days with no obsessive house work.

We went over to a friends' pool for a bbq in the afternoon. The pool was awesome - it felt so good to just float in the water. The water was heated to a perfect temperature. I think I could have stayed in there forever. And they told me to come over and go in any time - so I definitely will be doing that. Just a soon as I get all my projects done around here.

I wore a bikini to the pool. I think it was quite shocking to some of the folks around the pool. When I walked out of the bedroom in the bikini - J just smiled at me and said "why the hell not!". And I said "Hey - I paid a lot of money for this look and I plan to show it off". (and I wasn't referring to the price of the bikini). And our friends by the pool got a huge kick out of it. I'm generally a fairly modest person - but these days - it's all out there!

I told J that this might be the only time in his life that I would allow him to take a picture of me in a bikini. So he took advantage of it - he was snapping pictures the whole time!

So - if you're brave and want to see a picture of a pregnant lady in a bikini - click on over to the belly picture collection and gawk for yourself. It's a sight to behold.

I also got a preggo bikini and went to a pool yesterday and I definitely felt like a site to behold...I think it's the best I've ever felt in a bathing suit though. Like "I am woman hear me roar!!"

You look great!!!

and take it from someone whose been there pregnant with twins - you do want to start to take it easy. I know not everyone is the same with their pregnancy, but it definitely is a good piece of advice or would that be assvice?

Oh and I know it's easier said than done when it comes to taking it easy - I'm still that way and I'm supposed to take it easy after my c-section!
