the silver lining

Ok, so I still haven't done it. Go password protected, that is. But I'm going to. I'm back to work in a few weeks, and maybe this sounds odd, but I think I'll have more time to blog once I'm back spending all day in front of my computer. I will set up the password then, and start updating the blog more regularly.

The silver lining to the whole thing is that I've gotten so many wonderful emails from so many people! I knew I had some lurkers reading my blog, but I had no idea there were so many of you. And you have really inspired me to keep it going. It's really neat to know that so many people are interested in what I have to say. So I will get back to posting more, and all of you who sent me emails will be on the list.

In the mean time - we have been busy hunting for a nanny. We think we've found one - a wonderful lady, a 'professional' nanny. She's expensive, but we figure Daniel and Callie are worth it. I've tried to make the argument that it's not worth the money and I should just stay home, but unfortunately (fortunately?) I make too much money, and even after paying the nanny we do still come out ahead with my salary. So a high-priced, educated nanny they will have. We're going to try just having the nanny for four days a week. And then Jim and I will try to split fridays. We'll see how it goes.

I'm back to work on March 4th. :-(

But only for 4 days. And then we are off to San Diego for a week. My sister (Callie) is getting married. And Jim's oldest son will be on leave from the Marines before heading overseas. And my older sister will be visiting from Switzerland with her new baby. So we are going to go see the family. And my boss is ok with me being gone - she's just happy I'm coming back at all (I think she was worried I wasn't going to). So it will be an easy transition back to work. Unfortunately we have to pay the nanny for the whole month, even though we'll be gone for a week. But that's what we had to do to get somebody good.

I'll be back soon. Hang in there with me.

Finding someone you trust is worth the extra money . . . I'm picturing a cross between Mary Poppins and Jo on nanny911! LOL
I've never met a real live nanny.

I'm with beagle - I'm totally picturing Mary Poppins here. :)

I'm glad you found someone and will have an easier transition back to work. That's great news.

(and when you go pwp, please include me? I love the updates!)

Finding someone you trust to take care of your precious babies is so important! I wish a nanny was an option for us. Having someone you trust to care for your children and only your children in their own environment would so great! I remember being confused about a coworker that was constantly in search for different daycare (some of hers was that she was always wanting someone cheaper each time) but now I understand. I'm sorry you have to go back to work, but I'll be happy to be reading more about the babies!

Glad you will stick around!! so, how did you find the nanny, was it through a service, etc.? She sounds wonderful.

Have a wonderful time with your relatives!!

I'm pretty sure I sent you an email for the password. I hope I did...

Anywhozit, yeah, we are paying through the nose for a nanny too, but same "problem"...I still make more money than her. I had to come back to work at the end of January and it sucks, but at least I know that my angels are with a loving, caring nanny who is worth every stinking penny.
