only more questions

We didn't get the easy answer we were hoping for.

Danny doesn't have any allergies.

The allergy doctor was great. He was very gentle and thoughtful. He spent a ton of time talking to us about his thoughts and where he would suggest we look next. He gave us a lot of very thoughtful input on his perspective both as a parent and a physician. He told us even before the testing that he didn’t think the problem was allergies, but he would go ahead and test just to rule it out. He thinks maybe some kind of metabolic disorder and that we should have the pediatrician do a ‘failure to thrive’ workup on him. He offered to help us in any way he could, if we don’t get the results we want from our pediatrician.

So that's what I know for now. Next step is back to the pediatrician.

Aw, crap. I was hoping that was it, it would be an answer and a fixable issue. I still hope it is it. When will you get the official results? I am keeping my fingers crossed that things fall into a good place soon, that nothing is wrong, and that your worries will be soothed.

I'm so sorry you haven't found the answer yet. You should be really proud of your caution in responding to the situation, and I hope you get a clearer answer soon.

I'm sorry that there were no answers, but how wonderful that the allergist was so supportive.

I am so sorry you didn't get the answers you were hoping for. A while back our pedi also thought that Little man L had some metabolic problem but he has since started catching up so it does make sense.

I'm so sorry, babe, that it means back to the drawing board. I'm glad he doesn't have an allergy, but the not knowing must be hard on you.

Have you tried contacting Statia (www.failuretonap.com)? Her son had some developmental issues. She sought help and gave me advice, which we're following. Maybe she could help?

i can't imagine how frustrating this has been! not that it's at all the same but it reminds me a little of the early stages of infertility when you're first trying to figure out if there is a problem and if so going through all the possible explanations and solutions. i wonder if having all that practice is helping you seem to be handling all the appointments and questions so well?
