feeling a bit better - 15 weeks 6 days

Well I'm feeling a bit better. I bought a new air cleaner for my bedroom, and that seems to have helped the allergies a lot. I've used an air cleaner in the bedroom for several years, but I knew I was overdue for filter change in my old one. Well instead I decided to buy a new one that has even better filtering, and I think it was money well spent.

But in the mean time - I think I now have a cold. This has happened before. I let the allergies get too bad (by not replacing the filter and avoiding the meds), and so my immune system gets beaten down, and I get sick. So I still have the yucky head congestion. It's just one complaint after another with me.

I have also ordered a portable air conditioning unit for my bedroom. I had been meaning to do this anyway - our upstairs gets pretty hot in the summer time, and then stays hot during the night even though it's cooler outside - our house doesn't ventilate very well. And normally I am able to handle it just fine with fans. But this summer I am not interested in being pregnant and uncomfortable and hot. And - as somebody pointed out - this will probably also help with the allergies too.

The belly growth is an odd thing. Some days I feel like I'm really showing, and I feel like it's hard to hide it at work. But other days I feel just a little extra chubby. Today is one of those days. Today I don't think I look pregnant, I think my belly actually seems a little smaller than it was last week. I'm not feeling that uncomfortable fullness that I was feeling. And I haven't felt much of the little fluttering in the last couple of days. Maybe they've just shifted position. Who knows. Always something to obsess about.

And now for the exciting news... We have new furniture!

This is what we have called our "grown up furniture" - the first really nice pieces we have ever bought. I have admired this furniture for years, but wasn't going to spend the money while we still had the seemingly endless expense of fertility treatments looming on the horizon. But once we had that positive pregnancy test and saw those heartbeats on the ultrasounds - we went for it! And Saturday it arrived. We have a new dining table - and in two weeks the chairs will arrive. And we have new bedroom furniture. It is all cherry wood, custom made, and has the most amazing smooth finish.

Very exciting.

Here is the dining table with the extensions on. Normally this will live without the extensions, and we will put those away to just use for big dinners. Of course the cat has to be in the middle of the action.

Here is the bedroom before we got the bed all set up.

And here it is with the bed all made and pretty.

Pretty furniture!

I'm glad that at least the allergies have abated a bit. And an A/C sounds wonderful for the summer. We have the same trouble here, so I'll just have to see what hubby says.

I'm so glad you're feeling better! And you new furniture looks great...

I feel the same way with the belly growth- some days I have a much more noticable bump than other days...although I think this has more to do with my bathroom habits.. or lack there of :-)

Yay for new furniture! Sorry about the cold. My allergies are out of control completely and nothing is helping. I take Allegra every day and I swear I may as well be taking nothing.

The belly thing is funny, I'm definitely showing, though I'm only 12 1/2 weeks (but there's three in there, so you know...), but depending on what shirt I'm wearing I either look 5 months pregnant or really fat(ter than usual).

Nice furniture! Love it!

Smart move on the a/c unit too. We got central installed in Feb - planning ahead for another July birth - last time, in that house it was sweltering in those first few PP days and the hormones and holding a little heater (baby) made it mandatory to get A/C. Got it cheaper this time. LOL

I'm glad you are doing better... hopefully even more so each day.

Love your new furniture. Isn't it nice to have something nice for yourself?

I know what you mean about the belly... sometimes I look in the mirror and think, I don't look any different. And then I imagine trying to pull on my pre-pregnancy pants... and realize that I DO look different, but since my new clothes are so comfortable, I don't notice it quite as much. When I look at my naked self in the mirror before a shower, THEN I notice... :-)
