an inspirational story to tell

This is such an inspirational IF story - that I want to share it with you all...

I think I've mentioned before that I participate in an IVF discussion board. I've been on that board for almost 2 years now. There's a core group of us that have been in it together right from the start - we all started our first cycle in June of 2005. A couple of the gals got pg right away on the first cycle, a few on the second, a few on the third. And all of those stuck around to support the rest. There were just a small handful of us still trying into this year. And as you know, I got my BFP in Feburary. Another girl who was also on her 6th cycle got hers in March.

So there were three left. One of the three is gearing up to do an FET cycle with a surrogate - they finally identified issues with her ute that were preventing her from getting pregnant - but she has a bunch of frozen blasts.

So that leaves the other two...

K was actually one of the ones who got pg on her first cycle. She was pregnant with twins. But due to an incompetent cervix she lost them both at around 21 weeks. A heartbreaking story that still haunts me. She had done one FET with no success, and had just been waiting and saving money to try again. A few months ago K posted that she might try a sharing cycle, as she couldn't really afford another cycle on her own. she had produced a lot of eggs on her first fresh cycle, so she thought that with another fresh cycle she could probably get enough eggs to share with someone, and share some of the cost.

At the same time, C was starting to get advice from her RE that she should consider donor eggs, as she's 40 and had several failed cycles with very poor stim results.

Well - when K posted about considering a shared cycle, C contacted her. And they agreed to cycle together. K was going to share her eggs with C!

So they worked it all out, they met in person - and did the cycle last month. They got 34 eggs - so 17 for each of them! And they both ended up with several blasts. They both transferred two blasts and froze a couple.

And today they both got postive HPTs!!!!! Their betas are on thursday, but they both got strong postive lines already.

I am just so happy for them. And so amazed at the miracle they are able to share with each other. and all this made possible by the magic of the internet - they never would have met if it had not been for an online discussion board.

I hope this gives everybody still trying some hope. We may not all achieve our success in the same way - but hopefully it all works out for everybody, one way or another.

Thanks so much for sharing. It's such a bold, brave move to share your eggs. I obviously don't know what that would be like, but it must have been a tough decision.

This story made me cry in a good way... congratulations to your friends - that they both found each other and were able to help one another get to the positive and hopefully stay with the positive and end up with a baby in each others arms is a wonderful wonderful thing.

oh wow, that's just such a special story! So excited for both of them. Just wonderful!

A gal I'm in a group with on a message board ended up donating her eggs to a friend she met on the board and then w/in 2 mo the donor was pg herself so their babies will be just months apart. I think egg donors are angels and when you know the person you're dontating to, it's just that much more special.

I hope the friend doing her FET gets her BFP too very soon!

Oh wow, what an amazing story...I'm so happy for K & C! I hope things continue to work out wonderfully for them.

Also wanted to comment on your last post -- YES to suddenly feeling like you have to get everything done around the house before the babies! G and I are doing the same thing...things that have been on our list for literally years suddenly feel incredibly urgent. But my mom keeps reminding me that all the baby needs is a place to sleep and a boobie. And it won't know how cute the room is. :)
